The DOJ is closing its insider trading inquiries into 3 senators but is still investigating GOP Sen. Richard Burr

  • The Justice Department is closing an insider-trading investigations into three US senators after prosecutors did not find sufficient evidence to prove they broke the law, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times reported.

  • Prosecutors reportedly contacted defense attorneys for Sens. Kelly Loeffler, Dianne Feinstein, and Jim Inhoffe to inform them that the investigations will close.

  • But North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr, who appears to have a deeper involvement in trading activity in the days before the market tanked, is still under investigation.

  • Last week, Burr stepped down as chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee after it surfaced that the FBI had seized a cell phone belonging to him.
